Day two

Today I carved out the foam and covered it with the air-dry clay. I didn't do the hands today, which I will probably regret tomorrow...I also didn't bother taking pictures of all the clay-covered parts. I'll do it later...
You may notice that my blanket changed color after I finished the foam bits. The foam was very messy.

Asian Ball Jointed Dolls

ABJDs (or just BJDs) are very pretty, but cost about $100-$700, or for a "cheap" plastic one (naked and headless) $20-$60+ also, you need to buy it clothes, eyes (acrylic, glass or silicon) and a wig.
I've been intrigued by these dolls ever since I first saw them, with their pretty faces and haunting eyes. But I can't afford to spend $100+ on a doll. The solution was, obviously, not to just give up on the idea, but to learn how to make my own. With my mother's help, I managed to find tutorials for making the doll itself, its eyes and its wig. Clothes shouldn't be a problem, as I've made doll clothes before.
However, all of the tutorials for making the doll are complicated, and most of them are badly translated. (For some reason, English speakers just don't make BJD tutorials) However, I persisted, and figured out pretty much how I could make one.

Yesterday, I started by drawing a sketch, which was very frustrating. For some reason, it seems easier to draw people moving then standing perfectly still. I still need to draw the head, but that'll be the fun part.
Today my mother took me shopping for supplies. I managed to find reddish-brown yarn, styrofoam and air-dry clay, but not the plastic rhinestone thingie that don't have facets, which I need for the eyes.
